Grasmere Gingerbread® is unique! A spicy-sweet cross between a biscuit and cake, it was invented in 1854 by Victorian cook Sarah Nelson in her 1630 Church Cottage home from where she sold aromatic slices to villagers and visitors from a tree stump outside her front door. Today, it is still ONLY made and sold here; baked fresh every day to Sarah’s original trademarked secret recipe and hand-wrapped in her distinctive original parchment paper.
