Wallington Food and Craft Festival Cookbook

Wallington Food and Craft Festival CookbookAs one of the partners involved in organising the Wallington Food and Craft Festival, Northumbria Larder has produced a cookbook containing over twenty recipes. Most of the dishes have been cooked by top North East chefs on the Northumbria Larder demonstration kitchen at past events across the region, and recipes include Craster Salad, Northumbrian Lamb with Berry Sauce and White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake.

The book also includes three very special recipes that have been taken from an 18th Century recipe book written by a past housekeeper at Wallington. Published in 1772, Mary Smith’s book entitled “The Complete House-keeper and Professed Cook. Calculated For the Greater Ease And Assistance of Ladies, House-keepers, Cooks, etc. etc.” contains all the things a house-keeper would need to know, ranging from how to pluck and prepare a pheasant, to making ice cream. We hope the three recipes included in our cookbook give you an insight into the life of an 18th Century house-keeper!

All the profits from the sale of the book will go towards making the Wallington Food and Craft festival sustainable for future years. To order your copy please send a cheque for £2.50 made out to 'Northumbria Larder' to Ground Floor, Beaufront Park, Anick Road, Hexham, Northumberland NE46 4TU.
