A Poetic Pursuit - Paintings by Peter Brook
I was first given a go with oil paints at the age of 7 and have used them ever since.
I find the Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater valleys especially attractive and I like to paint "en plein air" whenever I can, in front of the landscape itself. I call the results "oil sketches", and I think they can possess subtle colours and a feeling of spontaneity. The coasts of Britain and Ireland, music and the theatre also get me going, as does the magic and nostalgia of steam railways, a genre of painting I have attempted in recent years.
I enjoy painting sheep, particularly our own local breed, the Herdwick. These are normally small pictures and very reasonably priced. I also paint Lakeland scenes, animals, flowers, trains, ships etc. on T shirts using wash-proof fabric paint. These make unique and special gifts.
A small selection of work is shown here. To discuss these or to commission a picture of any subject, please call me on 0770 4678042.
