I produce a wide range of thrown and handbuilt stoneware pottery fired to 1260 - 1280 centigrade. In my thrown pieces I like to have a crisp shape which is then glazed in a fairly free manner. I do use chance as an element in some pieces e.g. by tearing, distorting or collapsing the forms. The handbuilt work covers a very wide range, from large bowls and vases, to human and animal forms. Handbuilding allows me to work on a much larger scale. This type of work is more often left unglazed with just a wash of iron oxide used to emphasise the texture.

In addition to 'one off' pieces I also produce three ranges of work for shops and galleries and am happy to accept individual commissions.

My workshop is open to the public so please look at the Made in Cumbria Craft Map for details.
