Painting and Pyrography Courses

Lake District artist David Best offers tuition from his studio set in a stunning rural location in central lakeland; courses from half day to three day duration, designed for the beginner and those with some experience.

A maximum of 4 people allowed at each session to best enable each person to develop their own individual style with tailored tuition and guidance.

Painting Courses

Using the well equipped studio as a base, the courses will concentrate on painting from the stunning and varied landscape of the local area and will involve some walking to our painting locations (lake district weather permitting!). If the weather is too poor then the course will continue undercover at the studio.

Three day courses will usually be run from Tuesday to Thursday, and comprise six sessions; morning sessions from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and afternoon sessions from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Each session will be centred around a different topic. Teas and coffees can be  provided but please make your own lunch arrangements if you are attending morning and afternoon sessions.

A choice of oil, acrylic or watercolour painting is available and all equipment and materials provided. The cost is £20 per session or £35 per day. Any number of the six weekly sessions  can be chosen to suit you; all six sessions for £100. 25% of the fee is required with the booking confirmation as a non refundable deposit.

Details of local bed and breakfast accommodation can be provided on request.

Throughout the year there will be some three day combined walking and painting breaks which will offer the opportunity to go further a field into the more remote landscape to paint. Further details on request.

Pyrography Courses

Half day and full day courses in pyrography (wood burning) are also available and take place in the studio.

The morning session (level 1) will cover basic techniques and projects for the beginner. Each attendant will have three pieces of work to take home with them from the course. The afternoon session will include more advanced projects for those who have completed level 1 or have previous experience.

The cost is £20 per session or £35 for both and all equipment and materials are provided.
