Craft Map 2010 - Ceramics

Joan Hardie takes her inspiration from nature, making original, unique, affordable ceramics in her pottery studio. Come to Cockermouth’s historic Market Place to talk to her and see the display of finished vases, dishes, bowls and hanging pieces.

Hours: Wed, Fri and Sat: 10am to 5pm, Easter to Christmas. Christmas to Easter please ring for details.

Directions: Market Place is at the east end of Main Street.

I produce a very wide range of thrown and hand built stoneware, from mugs and bowls to large sculptural pieces for the home and garden. Trade orders and private commissions welcome. The barn houses gallery, craft workers, antiques, architectural items and café.

Hours: 7 Days Summer 10am to 5pm, Winter 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Directions: Just off A590 between Newby Bridge and the Grange roundabout.

William works with stoneware clay, mostly thrown on the wheel. His glazes are local wood ash. He worked and studied in Japan for two years and after 22 years is now an internationally renowned potter.

Hours: Appointment only.
